The Catskill Town Board meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Board Committee meetings usually held on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

Civic groups, students, scouts, youth organizations, sportsmen and women, and all are invited to join the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse Preservation Society as it hosts visits to the eight-room “Hudson Light.” The 2019 season will open the lighthouse for tours on the second Saturday of each month beginning in July, and ending in October. Helpers are needed for a variety of assignments: boat pilots (must have experience); dock hands; tour guides; on-shore guides at Hudson and Athens boat launches; boat and house maintenance workers; and administrative duties. We also welcomes those who may be interested in serving as a board member. This is a Volunteer Information Session. The third public hearing on the proposed gas station at the corner of Routes 23/82/9/9H in Livingston. During the last hearing, a hydro-geologist made the case that wetlands leading to the Hudson River would be severely impacted and Livingston’s aquifer would be compromised if this project goes forward. Advocates opposing the construction, including Livingston Concerned Citizens, are asking the Livingston Planning Board to issue a positive declaration and prepare an environmental impact statement.

Classes Thursdays, April 4, 11, 25, May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 - Taught by author, artist, educator, and social activist Maureen McNeil. The class, a collaboration with the City of Hudson Senior Center, will focus on discovering the power of the inner self through the practice of daily writing. A new trio of musicians:
Bobby Previte is a composer and performer whose work explores the nexus between notated and improvised music. One of the seminal figures of the 80s New York ‘Downtown’ scene, Previte has received multiple awards for music composition, most recently the Greenfield Prize for Music and a Guggenheim Fellowship. He leads a plethora of ensembles from his instrument, the drums. including Blueprints—projected/conducted historical fragments, Rhapsody— acoustic song cycle, Mass—metal + medieval, Terminals—concertos for soloist and So Percussion. Jamie Saft is a virtuoso pianist, keyboardist, producer, and composer from New York. His stylistic versatility, multi-instrumentalist capabilities, and production skills have been featured with Beastie Boys, Bad Brains, HR, The B-52’s, John Adams, Laurie Anderson, Donovan, Antony and the Johnsons, and Iggy Pop. Saft leads the New Zion Trio, The Jamie Saft Trio, and The Jamie Saft Quartet.
Guitar explorer Nels Cline is best known these days as the lead guitarist in the band Wilco. His recording and performing career — spanning jazz, rock, punk and experimental — is well into its fourth decade, with over 200 recordings, including at least 30 for which he is leader. Cline has received many accolades including Rolling Stone anointing him as both one of 20 "new guitar gods" and one of the top 100 guitarists of all time (which is, of course, completely absurd).

Spend a weekend at Drop Forge & Tool learning the fundamentals of quilt construction in this two-day workshop with local quilt maker, Susan Chiappini. If you can fill a bobbin, thread your machine, and create a straight stitch you already have the skills of a beginner quilter.

Saturdays, begins April 6 through June 29, 1:30-2:30pm This series, divided into 4-week long workshops during the months of April, May & June, introduces exercises that improve postural stability, core strength, spatial body awareness, sensory integration, agility and coordination. The class size has a cap of 12 to allow greater flexibility in addressing the needs of each participant.
