ZE BIB! is a collaborative effort between cellist/electronic musician Shanna Sordahl and percussionist Robert Lopez. Debuted in the warm Oakland summer of 2013, Ze Bib!'s music grapples with the spastic intensity arising from explorations into sound worlds developed both collectively and independently. As active musicians for a variety of projects in the Bay Area, Lopez and Sordahl's extreme musical interests converge with explosive force. A desire to continuously expand and reinterpret their relationships with their instruments leads to an ever exciting dynamic that will intrigue and entrance. Their music is tinged with influences ranging between noise, free improvisation, art rock, and heavy drone.

The exhibition surveys the history and mythology of the Videofreex, a collective of artists, storytellers, and activists who produced and disseminated alternative media across New York and other U.S. communities during the 1970s. They lived in Greene County in the early 1970s and produced Lanesville TV, perhaps the first pirate television station in the United States. The Videofreex exploited the new technology of portable video as an emerging medium for creative expression and as a democratic tool for disseminating independent points of view in a pre-digital age. By establishing the first pirate television station in the United States, the Videofreex created a base for media education and training, and an informal media art center hosting local and international visitors. Curator Andrew Ingall previews the exhibition, and Parry Teasdale, who now edits "The Columbia Paper" talks to Victor Mendolia, Deborah Gilbery and Debby Mayer on "@Issue" on WGXC about his days in the Videofreex where, reportedly he wrote the essay on guerrilla broadcasting in Abbie Hoffman's "Steal This Book."

Reality Radio positions those who move throughout the studio – students, professors, administrators, visitors, even maintenance crews – in the role of performer, with listening audiences as ever present observers, and is a co-presentation of Wave Farm, the Bard College Conservatory of Music, and the John Cage Trust. David Degge, Jon Collazo, and Petra Elek all perform and discuss their percussion work and their part in Reality Radio.

Savusauna, the smoke sauna, is the eldest technique of preparing a sauna bath. In contrast to more recent sauna baths, no chimney is needed. A big fire is prepared and kept over hours under constant temperature – not to low, but also not too hot, to produce smoke. The smoke is filling and thus heating the sauna room. When the room is hot enough, small windows are opened to let the smoke escape and the sauna bath can begin. Have you ever enjoyed a savusauna? You should. Lasse-Marc Rieks piece invites you to join a savusauna bath by listening. It’s really worth a try. While Lasse-Marc Riek, being a specialist for field recordings, would for sure have been able to provide extra material to capture the atmosphere around the savusauna as well, we did not ask for that. His piece is complete in its on rights, celebrating the Finnish sauna culture of the everyday. At the same time, when it comes to sauna bath: how can we translate this experience into sound? Obviously, for several reasons this seems to be an almost impossible task. Or, to be more precise: what we might consider as the most natural translation would be always the most artificial part. For we’d loose track of what we are missing, what can’t be captured with the means of recording, due to the fact that the core experience is fuelled by substances that can’t be kept: smoke, heat, steam, sweat. So we chose for our acoustic framework a good mixture of field recordings – some of which are so concrete that they might remind you of Foley sounds, the kind of sounds that are created for exactly this very kind of purpose: a substitute that may feel more real than the real one would. But is this really true? You’ll be able to find out anyway. But then we also have to be complete with our credits (see below), thus it is not really necessary to try. Yet, why not stop reading here. Listen by yourself first. And check the data later. He studied painting and film while at the University of Minnesota, before moving to Hollywood in 1955, to become an apprentice film editor. Dockstader's first record, Eight Electronic Pieces, was released in 1960, and was later used as the soundtrack to Federico Fellini's Satyricon (1969). He continued to create music throughout the first half of that decade, working principally with tape manipulation effects. In 1966 Owl Records released four albums of his work from this period including what many consider to be Dockstader's masterpiece, Quatermass."

The Saturday Afternoon Show welcomes percussionist and NEXUS ensemble member Garry Kvistad live in WGXC's Acra Studio at the Wave Farm Study Center. Kvistad will be in conversation with host Tom Roe as well as premiere several not-yet-released recordings by NEXUS of the music of John Cage. This broadcast is presented in conjunction with, Reality Radio, a four-month durational project spanning February to May 2015 featuring a continuous audio surveillance feed from the Bard College Percussion Studio headed by Sō Percussion. Reality Radio positions those who move throughout the studio – students, professors, administrators, visitors, even maintenance crews – in the role of performer, with listening audiences as ever present observers, and is a co-presentation of Wave Farm, the Bard College Conservatory of Music, and the John Cage Trust.

Garry Kvistad is founder and CEO of Woodstock Percussion, Inc., makers of Woodstock Chimes distributed worldwide. Garry has been performing and recording with Steve Reich and Musicians since 1980, being one of 18 musicians to win a Grammy for the Nonesuch recording of Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians. He tours and records with NEXUS, the internationally-renown, Canada-based chamber music ensemble. Garry has a BM from the Oberlin Conservatory and a MM from Northern Illinois University where, in 1993, he received its Distinguished Alumni Award. Garry worked with composer/conductor Lukas Foss as a Creative Associate in Buffalo ‘71-72, after which he joined the faculties of Northern Illinois University and the University Of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. His Balinese Gong Kebyar Gamelan ensemble, Giri Mekar, formed in 1987, is on loan at Bard College where Garry currently serves as faculty advisor.

RWM is a radiophonic project of the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona (MACBA) that explores the possibilities of the internet and radio as spaces of synthesis and exhibition. The broadcast commences with a conversation between RWM curator Anna Ramos and Wave Farm Artistic Director Tom Roe and features works by Hank Bull and Felix Kubin, as well as David Crowley's look at Oskar Hansen's links to the twentieth-century Polish electroacoustic scene, and the role of the experimental radio studio in Warsaw at the time; Franco Berardi remembering the days of Radio Alice, a legendary free radio in the seventies; Lawrence Abu Hamdan exploring the contemporary politics of listening and the role of the voice in law; and reintrepretation of Samuel Beckett's play 'Cascando', by Joan Morey.

This piece contains field recordings from places where I felt surrounded by “not-you” most and wanted to act (make a sound), and then versions of just those sounds without a place. Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM is pleased to broadcast a recording of the recent panel discussion "Videofreex: A Foundation for Participatory Art and Social Engagement," which took place at SUNY New Paltz on March 8, 2015 in conjunction with the exhibition Videofreex: The Art of Guerrilla Television on view at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art though July 12, 2015. The panel featured Videofreex members Parry Teasdale and Skip Blumberg who discussed Lanesville TV as a model for civic engagement, creative placemaking, and revitalization. The panel was co-moderated by Andrew Ingall, Guest Curator, Videofreex: The Art of Guerrilla Television and Galen Joseph-Hunter, Executive Director, Wave Farm.

"Curated by Wave Farm: Climactic Climate" is a five-part series of new radio artworks on the theme of weather radio premiering on Kunstradio, and also airing on Wave Farm's WGXC-FM in 2015.

The commissioned broadcasts represent a broad spectrum of reflection on transmission in relation to natural environmental conditions. Participating artists harness weather as instrumentation in performance, celebrate the act of environmental observation as compositional score, or imagine and interpret the scientific impact radio transmission has on weather patterns and vice versa.

"Climactic Climate" features works by five international contemporary artists, each of whom approach and interpret conditions of natural radio distinctly.

Participating artists include Quintron (New Orleans, US); Mark Vernon (Glasgow, UK); Pauline Oliveros (New York, US); Anna Ialeggio (Los Angeles, US); and Zach Poff (New York, US).

Based in New York State, Wave Farm is a non-profit arts organization that celebrates creative and community use of media and the airwaves. Wave Farm programs support artists who engage the transmission spectrum, on the airwaves and through public events and include the Wave Farm Artist Residency Program, and international visiting artist program; and the Transmission Arts Archive, a living genealogy of artists' experiments with broadcast media and the airwaves. Wave Farm's WGXC-FM is a creative community radio station that commits over 60 hours a week to transmission art and experimental sound.

Tabs Out turned three years old. We celebrated being America’s favorite cassette podcast three years strong by sitting in a smelly, cramped room playing cassettes by Witchbeam, Trust, Stellfox, Parashi, Porenut, Purity Of Essence, New World Pictures, Talugung, Cosi E Cosi, Beast Nest, Contrepoison, Rag Lore, Steve Palmer, and Tropical Rock. We also prank called a lesser cassette podcast and did some general goofin’. Things got a little hairy, so forgive us if we forgot to play a tape or fucked up in any way.
