Ten years ago, at 2 p.m. on February 26, 2011, with mere minutes to spare, WGXC powered on, transmitting 3,300 watts out to the Upper Hudson Valley on 90.7-FM. A large boisterous group assembled at the Catskill Community Center to celebrate. There, WGXC's first programmers took to the mic to introduce their shows and perform live on-air as part of the first ever WGXC broadcast. Join us ten years later for a very special ceremonious broadcast in honor of this official 10th Anniversary day.

For the past 7 years, 24-HOUR DRONE presented with Le Guess Who? has kicked Basilica Hudson’s season into bloom as a sacred wake-up call for the building in her winter hibernation. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

October 23, 2021: John Cage’s Rozart Mix, realized by artist Aaron Dilloway
The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre returns to live production with a two-weekend run of “The Addams Family” musical in a special edition created specifically for these uncertain times and featuring a cast comprised completely of local students and alumni. “The Addams Family: Quarantine Edition” by Andrew Lippa, Marshall Brickman, and Rick Elice will be presented Thursdays – Sundays, August 12-22, 2021, on BST’s “Priscilla” stage located at 44 West Bridge Street. Thursday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., with two “Pay-What-You-Will” performances on August 12 and 15.

Rites of Passage: "20/20 Vision” is an immersive multi media event created through the lens of Black, Indigenous, Immigrant, cis and trans Women of Color (BIWOC) in America. Created in collaboration with dozens of women artists of Color from around the US. The audience will travel through the house experiencing each of its 21 rooms as a “rite of passage” in the lives of Women of Color from birth to death. There will be 10 live performances with afternoon and evening performance blocks. 20/20 Vision will feature rooms titled “Migration/Diaspora”, “No Longer Secret”, “Taboo”, “Queer Luv” and “Legacy” - exploring issues relevant today such as #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, immigration justice, LGBTQ rights and reproductive justice. Local Berkshire organizations partnering with the project include Multicultural BRIDGE, R.O.P.E., the Elizabeth Freeman Center, and Bard College at Simon’s Rock. The live performances will occur in accordance with state guidelines for Covid-19 safety for distancing, gathering, mask requirements, and venue limits at the time. Audiences are limited. Reservations highly recommended. Performances are 100 minutes long. Each evening features a talk-back at 9 p.m.

The Plein Air Plays Friday, August 13 at 5 p.m., and 6 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, August 14-15 at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. Rain date: Monday, August 16. Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre returns to live production with a two-weekend run of “The Addams Family” musical in a special edition created specifically for these uncertain times and featuring a cast comprised completely of local students and alumni. “The Addams Family: Quarantine Edition” by Andrew Lippa, Marshall Brickman, and Rick Elice will be presented Thursdays – Sundays, August 12-22, 2021, on BST’s “Priscilla” stage located at 44 West Bridge Street. Thursday-Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., with two “Pay-What-You-Will” performances on August 12 and 15.

There will be 10 live performances with afternoon and evening performance blocks. 20/20 Vision will feature rooms titled “Migration/Diaspora”, “No Longer Secret”, “Taboo”, “Queer Luv” and “Legacy” - exploring issues relevant today such as #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, immigration justice, LGBTQ rights and reproductive justice. Local Berkshire organizations partnering with the project include Multicultural BRIDGE, R.O.P.E., the Elizabeth Freeman Center, and Bard College at Simon’s Rock. The live performances will occur in accordance with state guidelines for Covid-19 safety for distancing, gathering, mask requirements, and venue limits at the time. Audiences are limited. Reservations highly recommended. Performances are 100 minutes long. Each evening features a talk-back at 9 p.m.

BKO Chamber Music presents Ron Carbone, viola, Margaret Flanigan, mezzo soprano, and Uel Wade, piano, performing a potpourri of mostly 20th century composers who defied the modernistic trends of the time with music based on older traditions, but flavored with new spices. Carbone and Wade will begin with an 18th century piece by W.F. Bach, followed by music based on 18th century themes by Darius Milhaud. They will also play a sonata by the Russian composer Paul Juon. The three performers will play "Three Songs" based on Romantic poetry by the English Frank Bridge. Flanigan and Wade will finish with a set of songs from the Broadway musical storehouse.

In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Catskill’s Bridge Street Theatre returns to live production with a two-weekend run of “The Addams Family” musical in a special edition created specifically for these uncertain times and featuring a cast comprised completely of local students and alumni. “The Addams Family: Quarantine Edition” by Andrew Lippa, Marshall Brickman, and Rick Elice will be presented Thursdays – Sundays, August 12-22, 2021, on BST’s “Priscilla” stage located at 44 West Bridge Street. Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

For the past 7 years, 24-HOUR DRONE presented with Le Guess Who? has kicked Basilica Hudson’s season into bloom as a sacred wake-up call for the building in her winter hibernation. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Fridman Gallery hosts a solo presentation at NADA Foreland of sculpture and mixed media work by Mollie McKinley. McKinley’s new work is about time, light, and veils. For McKinley, The veil is a metaphysical concept, but it is also very concrete and real. Veils are both passageways and permeable membranes. They allow for moments of collaborative collision: such as in our bodies, when we introduce medicine into our bloodstream (thus the "smear" or liquid flush imagery in the sheet glass). Historically, the 'veil' is ascribed to the temporal space between life and death, a gateway to other dimensions. The sculptures in McKinley’s Salt Cradle series possess a similar collaborative alchemy in which two entities or materials dissolve into a third, unknown space. Mollie McKinley is an interdisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley. She approaches the body through what is perceived as natural and unnatural in dialogue with landscape, feminist thought, care, and metaphysics. Her pursuit of the mysteries of existence and geologic time are forged through a reconciliation with death and embodied transformation. This process unfolds through site specific, ritual performances in the landscape, recorded as photographs, as well as through materials such as salt and glass. Her practice encompasses diverse media, but is rooted in sculpture, performance, and photography.

Wave Farm will welcome drop-in visitors from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday August 28 and Sunday August 29, 2021 in conjunction with UPSTATE ART WEEKEND.

Founded in 2020 by Helen Toomer of STONELEAF RETREAT to celebrate the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York, UPSTATE ART WEEKEND connects people and places, building a community that not only visits for the weekend, but explores the Hudson Valley throughout the year. Its second expanded edition, takes place from August 27-29, 2021, and incorporates sixty-one participants in the Hudson Valley. This three-day self-directed, accessible event connects tourists and locals alike, with art and the outdoors, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. 

#58 in the map above, Wave Farm's Acra campus on 29-acres featuring 10 site-specific Property Installations will be open on Saturday August 28 and Sunday August 29 from noon - 6 p.m. for guided tours. 

On Saturday, August 28 from 1 - 6 p.m. Jen Kutler will present Sonified Physiological Indicators of Empathy, a durational performance and broadcast. Kutler will perform sound works created from physiological data collected and analyzed for markers of empathetic response to curated sounds. Wave Farm visitors are invited to be participants. A subject is outfitted with sensors reading electrodermal activity, breath, and heart rate. The subject is then exposed to clips of site-specific audio in ten second intervals separated by ten seconds of silence. As the data is collected, it is given synthetic voices and processing. The timbres and textures draw from Wave Farm Radio streams to create immersive soundscapes.

An after-party for the NADA art fair and celebrating the launch of the Foreland campus. Ephraim Asili has been travelling the world and collecting vinyl for nearly 20 years. Fly By Night is Rudy Mungaray, who has performed around the world both as an experimental theatre actor and a DJ. Inspired by the ethos of David Mancuso’s The Loft in NYC, Rudy’s sets weave funk, house, disco, balearic and more for the dancer to be set free. LunarMoss is the current iterative of one record collecting, time-traveling drifter. Experience always best expressed thru a palette of vinyl. Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

October 23, 2021: John Cage’s Rozart Mix, realized by artist Aaron Dilloway
The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. There, WGXC's first programmers took to the mic to introduce their shows and perform live on-air as part of the first ever WGXC broadcast. Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Andy Stuhl will serve as the 2021/2022 Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellow. During his engagement, September 2021 - May 2022, Stuhl will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource and a syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Stuhl will also create original radio artworks for broadcast, and conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public.

Andy Kelleher Stuhl is a media researcher, sound artist, and digital humanities practitioner. He is currently completing a dissertation, through the department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill, on the cultural meaning of automation in radio’s industrial and artistic contexts from the 1950s into the 21st century. His writing has appeared in Sounding Out!, the Canadian Journal of Communication, Amodern, and the Velvet Light Trap.

Stuhl got his start in radio as a show host, live sound engineer, and training director at KZSU Stanford. More recently, he appeared as a guest contributor to the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner’s Radio100 programming on CKUT Montreal. Exploring the fraught interplay of automated technology and autonomous expression in radio, his ongoing research and artistic practice both aim to amplify ways that artists have used radio transmission as a means to critique the radio medium’s industrial structures—and also to connect these moments as important precedents for critical interventions into newer media like streaming platforms. Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Andy Stuhl will serve as the 2021/2022 Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellow. During his engagement, September 2021 - May 2022, Stuhl will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource and a syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Stuhl will also create original radio artworks for broadcast, and conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public.

Andy Kelleher Stuhl is a media researcher, sound artist, and digital humanities practitioner. He is currently completing a dissertation, through the department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill, on the cultural meaning of automation in radio’s industrial and artistic contexts from the 1950s into the 21st century. His writing has appeared in Sounding Out!, the Canadian Journal of Communication, Amodern, and the Velvet Light Trap.

Stuhl got his start in radio as a show host, live sound engineer, and training director at KZSU Stanford. More recently, he appeared as a guest contributor to the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner’s Radio100 programming on CKUT Montreal. Exploring the fraught interplay of automated technology and autonomous expression in radio, his ongoing research and artistic practice both aim to amplify ways that artists have used radio transmission as a means to critique the radio medium’s industrial structures—and also to connect these moments as important precedents for critical interventions into newer media like streaming platforms. For the past 7 years, 24-HOUR DRONE presented with Le Guess Who? has kicked Basilica Hudson’s season into bloom as a sacred wake-up call for the building in her winter hibernation. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

For the past 7 years, 24-HOUR DRONE presented with Le Guess Who? has kicked Basilica Hudson’s season into bloom as a sacred wake-up call for the building in her winter hibernation. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

October 23, 2021: John Cage’s Rozart Mix, realized by artist Aaron Dilloway
The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Andy Stuhl will serve as the 2021/2022 Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellow. During his engagement, September 2021 - May 2022, Stuhl will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource and a syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Stuhl will also create original radio artworks for broadcast, and conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public.

Andy Kelleher Stuhl is a media researcher, sound artist, and digital humanities practitioner. He is currently completing a dissertation, through the department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill, on the cultural meaning of automation in radio’s industrial and artistic contexts from the 1950s into the 21st century. His writing has appeared in Sounding Out!, the Canadian Journal of Communication, Amodern, and the Velvet Light Trap.

Stuhl got his start in radio as a show host, live sound engineer, and training director at KZSU Stanford. More recently, he appeared as a guest contributor to the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner’s Radio100 programming on CKUT Montreal. Exploring the fraught interplay of automated technology and autonomous expression in radio, his ongoing research and artistic practice both aim to amplify ways that artists have used radio transmission as a means to critique the radio medium’s industrial structures—and also to connect these moments as important precedents for critical interventions into newer media like streaming platforms. A large boisterous group assembled at the Catskill Community Center to celebrate. There, WGXC's first programmers took to the mic to introduce their shows and perform live on-air as part of the first ever WGXC broadcast. Join us ten years later for a very special ceremonious broadcast in honor of this official 10th Anniversary day.

Ten years ago, at 2 p.m. on February 26, 2011, with mere minutes to spare, WGXC powered on, transmitting 3,300 watts out to the Upper Hudson Valley on 90.7-FM. A large boisterous group assembled at the Catskill Community Center to celebrate. There, WGXC's first programmers took to the mic to introduce their shows and perform live on-air as part of the first ever WGXC broadcast. Join us ten years later for a very special ceremonious broadcast in honor of this official 10th Anniversary day.

For the past 7 years, 24-HOUR DRONE presented with Le Guess Who? has kicked Basilica Hudson’s season into bloom as a sacred wake-up call for the building in her winter hibernation. With all large gatherings still on hold due to COVID-19, this year we will bring DRONE to the airwaves in collaboration with Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM Radio for Open Ears.
Both organizations, Basilica and Wave Farm, will each invite five sound artists to contribute a 60-minute performance. Assembled, this newly commissioned 10-hour drone program will be the featured content for DRONE AT HOME 2021. Highlights from past 24-HOUR DRONE event archives will flesh out the rest of the 24-hour online broadcast.

August 7, 2021, Audio Buffet 2021 and Programmer Picnic

Wave Farm's sixth annual Audio Buffet and WGXC Programmer Picnic will take place on Saturday August 7, 2021. In 2015, Pauline Oliveros and IONE donated the 32-channel mixing board they once traveled the world with to Wave Farm. Their generous and meaningful donation serves as the fulcrum for the Audio Buffet event, where dozens of acoustic and electronic sound artists come together for a live collaborative and improvisational radio performance on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM from 2 - 4 p.m. The broadcast is followed by a WGXC Programmer Picnic.

October 23, 2021: John Cage’s Rozart Mix, realized by artist Aaron Dilloway
The John Cage Trust 1309 Annandale Road Red Hook, NY 12571
Newly realized by former Wave Farm Residency Artist Aaron Dilloway, the installation at the John Cage Trust will be an expansive, multi-level, visual, and sonic work, with collaborating tape players including Rosie Actor-Engel, Twig Harper, C. Lavender, Quintron, Robert Turman, and John Wiese. In keeping with Cage's score, a minimum of 88 tape loops will be employed. The tape loops will be made to run on 12 reel-to-reel decks positioned in various rooms and floors of the John Cage Trust building, winding up stairs and around furniture. Visitors will be immersed in a kinetic and audible drawing. As was the case in the first performance of Rozart Mix in 1965 at Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, the content on the tape loops will include field recordings as well as voices; however, in this new iteration the sound materials will be sourced from the over 100 volunteer programmers who contribute programming on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM. This event serves as a culminating celebration of WGXC's 10th Anniversary year. More information at wavefarm.org/rozartmix.

Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Andy Stuhl will serve as the 2021/2022 Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellow. During his engagement, September 2021 - May 2022, Stuhl will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource and a syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Stuhl will also create original radio artworks for broadcast, and conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public.

Andy Kelleher Stuhl is a media researcher, sound artist, and digital humanities practitioner. He is currently completing a dissertation, through the department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill, on the cultural meaning of automation in radio’s industrial and artistic contexts from the 1950s into the 21st century. His writing has appeared in Sounding Out!, the Canadian Journal of Communication, Amodern, and the Velvet Light Trap.

Stuhl got his start in radio as a show host, live sound engineer, and training director at KZSU Stanford. More recently, he appeared as a guest contributor to the Musée des ondes Emile Berliner’s Radio100 programming on CKUT Montreal. Exploring the fraught interplay of automated technology and autonomous expression in radio, his ongoing research and artistic practice both aim to amplify ways that artists have used radio transmission as a means to critique the radio medium’s industrial structures—and also to connect these moments as important precedents for critical interventions into newer media like streaming platforms.
