Angelo Canna Park Ribbon cutting for new playground equipment and park picnic area, plus the unveiling of the Three Bears Picnic Area sign designed by author and artist Iza Trapani, who will attend the event. Hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and more. Rides will begin at noon. At 1 p.m., there will be a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a Little League Double Header. At 4 p.m., there will be a Charity Softball Game between the Cairo Fire Departments and the Police Department. At 6 p.m., the Bobby Val Band performs. Fireworks will occur when it's dark. Food will be served by the Little League & Pop Warner Clubs to support their organizations.

Frank Giorgini's 23rd Annual three-day Udu Drum Workshop, July 7, 8, and 14 The udu drum is an all-clay musical instrument indigenous to West Africa. Giorgini is an artist, designer, teacher, author and master drum maker living in Greene County, New York. In the summer of 1974, he had the opportunity to live and work with a group of African artists at the Haystacks Mountain School of Arts and Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. As a result of this unique cultural exchange, he learned the little known art of making the all clay side-hole pot drum from Abbas Ahuwan of Zaria, Nigeria. Giorgini is considered the designer of the modern Udu Drum and through his efforts the sound of the Udu Drum has affected contemporary music on a global scale. Udu. At this workshop you will explore the concepts and techniques underlying the construction and decoration of Nigerian pottery, while experiencing the actual forming of pots and drums by traditional hand building methods. Two singer-songwriters. Carmen Borgia is a past member of Some Ambulants in San Diego, The Secret Sons Of The Pope in San Francisco, and Orson Welk in NYC. He has composed music and created sound designs for numerous theatrical productions, much of it at the Western Stage in Salinas, California. He has sound designed and/or mixed many film and video projects, from the ragged DIY sonics of DV documentaries to some very cool indy film projects. His mixes have played at the Sundance, Toronto, Tribeca and Berlin film festivals as well as the Sundance Channel, the Independent Film Channel and PBS. Frank Cuthbert is a music composer and renovator of historic buildings in Catskill.

Every Saturday Night from July 7 - September 1, 2012, there will be free outdoor viewings of rare films and videos at 328 Warren Street at the Parc Park (across from the Hudson Opera House). Each session is 90 minutes. These are presented by the Hudson Music Festival with support from the City of Hudson and the Parc Foundation. The compilations are the brainchildren of artist Spike Priggen, bedazzled.tv and scopitones.com. The July 7th screening will feature 1960's Jazz Greats with Sarah Vaughn, Oscar Peterson, Lamberl, Henricks & Ross, Jimmy Smith, Nina Simone, Wes Montgomery, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, & more.

Frank Giorgini's 23rd Annual three-day Udu Drum Workshop, July 7, 8, and 14 The udu drum is an all-clay musical instrument indigenous to West Africa. Giorgini is an artist, designer, teacher, author and master drum maker living in Greene County, New York. In the summer of 1974, he had the opportunity to live and work with a group of African artists at the Haystacks Mountain School of Arts and Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine. As a result of this unique cultural exchange, he learned the little known art of making the all clay side-hole pot drum from Abbas Ahuwan of Zaria, Nigeria. Giorgini is considered the designer of the modern Udu Drum and through his efforts the sound of the Udu Drum has affected contemporary music on a global scale. Udu. At this workshop you will explore the concepts and techniques underlying the construction and decoration of Nigerian pottery, while experiencing the actual forming of pots and drums by traditional hand building methods.
