"Radio, Radio" is a sixteen-part series of forty-five minute broadcasts which asks an honest question: Is there really a place on radio for experimentation? Twenty people immersed in radio, sound and performance offer, in their own ways, answers to this question through conversation and the presentation of their work. This episode: Jennifer and Kevin McCoy are Brooklyn-based artists who cycle, repeat and morph pop-culture tropes and images. Their series of microradio installations conflate gallery patrons with pirate radio listeners while ironically tweaking the language of novels like Frankenstein, Alice in Wonderland and the corporate-promo-speak of the web. In New York City their work has been exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, P.S.1, Postmasters Gallery, The New Museum and other venues.

Journalist Michael Paterniti discusses his latest book "The Telling Room," as well as issues about narrative and journalism itself with host Richard Wolinsky. From Pacifica Radio.

From "Free Speech Radio News": "Civil liberties advocates continue their push for the Obama administration to reign in government surveillance after the secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court released an order justifying the mass collection of telephone metadata. Groups are also calling for limits to FBI surveillance, after a new report documented many years of abuses, including the widespread monitoring of activists and communities of color. The shield that protects our planet's animal and plant life from the sun's radiation. Dr. Herndon wrote an article titled The Corruption of Science, and relays disturbing evidence of how the National Science Foundation and other institutional structures have created an oppressed environment for scientists effecting the free exchange of ideas. Radia Show 442: "Cueillette" by Luc Kerleo for Jet FM "Radia" is an international netwrok of radio stations interested in creative and forgotten ways of making radio. Each week, one station makes a show for all the others. Jet FM asked Luc Kerleo to invade her studios. Several sound-objects were placed in the offices, corridors, toilettes… Curiosly the broadcast studios were not used. Then some people were invited to visit this exhibition made of artificial noises bursting in those different locations around the studios, playing with its acoustic, its visual ambiency, its context… The result is a 28 minutes radio show where Luc Kerleo explain his work and where you can hear the sounds of the exhibition mixed with the music which was on air at that time and some real noises due to people working in the radio. from signal to space Luc Kerleo act as a sculptor. He works with moving and instable things like sound, electricity, mechanical movements, liquids and gaz, thoughts. He mainly works with sound for two reasons. First, compared to visual, sound is a discrete manifestation. One of his preoccupations is to make people feel things without having to recover and hide a part of the reality with objects which blocks up or invade the viewing field. Furthermore by listening reality he develops thoughts and reflexion structures which complete our cultural perception of what surrounds us, this perception which on a cultural aspect is mainly based on the visual. Notably the sounding requires us to consider not only what is in front of us but also, and equally, what surrounds us. But then the stake for him is the same than for artists acting in visual. Since it is about representing what surrounds and constitutes us. History and actuality of visual arts (painting, sculpture, installation, drawings, performances) constitute the territory to which Luc Kerleo refers and in which he moves around. Hethre Contant is the current artist-in-resident at Wave Farm in Acra, NY, and will host this program live, featuring work made during her residency. During her residency Contant will further develop a performance for radio based on research about transmission during The Weimar Republic. This research was compiled in her Master’s thesis, which received The Distinguished Thesis Award from The New School’s Media Studies Department in 2012. Over 90 pages of historical, technical, and theoretical writing addresses a lacuna in media scholarship about the importance of this radio epoch. However, in its academic form, Contant realizes that her research remains limited to a small, rather specific community. A public performance and archival documentation of her proposed performance, makes Contant’s research accessible to a wider public audience.

Olana’s 250-acre landscape was originally designed in response to its integral views— the “Olana Viewshed”— by Hudson River School artist Frederic Church. Groundswell audiences will explore the property’s undiscovered roads and naturalistic scenes as they encounter each project site.
