Azuré Keahi artist
Azuré Keahi is a mixed Kanaka ‘Ōiwi healing in diaspora on Mohican soils in so-called Troy, New York through creative practice centering themes of Indigeneity, Other-ness, and collective healing. Keahi is an interdisciplinary artist, mother, writer, and creator carrying a thread through past, present, and future. In collaboration with diverse communities, she tends landscapes where she grows plant pigments, art materials, and creative feasts. Her socially-engaged practice shapes containers such as baskets, irrigation vessels and other woven sculptural forms focusing on how we are held, what we hold, and how we sustain carrying our collective load for generations to come.
