ARCHIVE

This audio collage features sounds recorded in collaboration with the Mahicannituck (lower Hudson River) Watershed and visitors to the November 2025 exhibit “Community Portal, A New Ritual For The Americas,” at the Experimental Music and Performing Arts Center in Troy, NY. Community Portal is a transmission-based instrument for embodied collaborative listening with local and ancestral waters.

Natan Diacon-Furtado originally designed this instrument to explore and connect with water and listening-based knowledge practices across their own Quaker, Sephardic Jewish, West African, Native Brazilian, settler, arrivant, and Indigenous ancestries. The Community Portal instrument for this exhibition was designed in collaboration with Azuré Keahi and Fun Stuff Design.
