Melanie Lekocevic is reporting in The Daily Mail the Coxsackie Village Board named Sam Mento the Coxsackie Police Department's new chief, Mon., Apr. 6. Mento was sworn in by Mayor Mark Evans following the board's action. Mento has served as interim chief since the resignation of former chief Donald Meier in January. Evans said, “It has been my pleasure to work with Captain Mento over the last six years, and we look forward to him leading our village police force.” Mento has been a resident of Coxsackie since 1980, and a member of the police force since 1996. In addition to his position in law enforcement, Mento has been employed as a registered nurse for the last 28 years, specializing in psychiatry and working with veterans at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.
