Take an adventuresome summer’s walk in the gardens and fields of Delaware County. Those weeds you were pulling out of the soil every year or spraying with herbicides you thought were intruders or you just didn’t know, will astound you and challenge your senses to discover how they can feed your body, nourish your soul and support you and your gardens over all balance and wellness.
Our next out doors walk is sponsored by Table on Ten Café at the corner-split of State Route 10 and River St. in Bloomville, New York. The walk will begin at the café with a hike at a small section of the Rails to Trails path. A gentle, easy and breezy tree lined walk on level ground with indigenous, invasive and precious plants. Guiding the ‘talk about’ will be Marguerite Uhlmann-Bower, Herbalist, R.N. discussing local wild plants as forage, food and traditional medicine. The walk is then followed by an indoor hands-on group activity - home made extracts – Immune Balancing extract with in season plants; we’ll also sample Milkweed Quiche, Queen Anne’s Lace Fritters, Sumac Berry Wine and Goldenrod Flower Wine, and a wild flower Tea that tastes heavenly. This months collective discussion: downsizing as an inclusive Community; preserving and conserving; how we are conduits of skillful ways and creative expansion.
