Nor'easter on its way

The National Weather Service is reporting forecasters are growing more confident that a major winter storm will impact parts of the Northeast and New England Fri., Feb. 8, into Sat., Feb. 9. This Nor'easter-type storm system will bring strong winds and heavy snow to the region. The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for east, central New York and western New England, beginning Friday morning through late Friday night. Heavy snow is possible, with accumulations of nine inches or more into Friday night. Winds are expected to reach 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph. Snowfall rates may exceed one inch per hour, Friday evening. The snow will taper off Saturday morning.
