On Saturday, July 22, join us for a day of Percussion at the Marimba Tree with performances by percussionists Lisa Schonberg with Leah Bowden and Melanie Medina; Azouke Legba with special guests; Chris Corsano; and Bobby Previte.

UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) is a connective annual event, for locals and tourists alike, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. The fourth edition of UPAW will take place Friday, July 21, through Monday, July 24, 2023.

UPAW launched in 2020 with 23 participants, expanding to over 130 in 2023, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region each year. The participants are art organizations, galleries, museums, residencies, and creative projects.

UPSTATE ART WEEKEND (UPAW) is a connective annual event, for locals and tourists alike, celebrating the cultural vibrancy of Upstate New York. The fourth edition of UPAW will take place Friday, July 21, through Monday, July 24, 2023.

UPAW launched in 2020 with 23 participants, expanding to over 130 in 2023, welcoming thousands of visitors to the region each year. The participants are art organizations, galleries, museums, residencies, and creative projects.

Join artists Rebecca Borrer and Kole Kovacs for this opportunity to create art using Photogrammetry (aka 3D Mapping). By exploring the world around them on a walk through their local park, students will choose an object to turn into a 3D work of art. On the second day, students will take the 3D objects they created and morph the shapes to create basic animations. By the end of the workshop, students will have created a digital artwork from a real life artifact! Ages 11-13. Lunch provided. This summer, Ailey II (the younger version of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) will visit Hudson for an exciting weekend of free community programming for all ages at the Hudson Area Library. To start the celebration, former Ailey Associate Artistic Director, Masazumi Chaya will participate in a panel discussion and film screening of the 2021 Ailey documentary, a beautiful portrait of legendary choreographer, Alvin Ailey. Then, professional dancers from Ailey II will lead two masterclass dance workshops for local Columbia County youth of various ages and skill levels. Finally, the Ailey II dancers will share a gorgeous public dance performance for all members of the community – a rare and wonderful opportunity to see some of the most talented dancers in the world, right here in Hudson. Three site-specific new works will be presented as a roving performance with audiences traveling by car to each secret location to experience these self-contained plays in environments that enhance their stories. The Ancram Opera House has commissioned two new works: one by Mukta Phatak, featuring Abuzar Farrukh, and another by New York-based cabaret artist, writer, and actor Salty Brine. The event will also premier a work by playwright and poet Barbara Wiechmann. At each play location, blankets and some seating will be provided. Audiences are also welcome to bring their own seating, if preferred, or to stand. All three plays are presented at each show. Audience capacity is limited. The performance times are Thursday (Aug. 10) and Friday (Aug. 11) at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Saturday (Aug. 12) and Sunday (Aug. 13) at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. Note: the 5 p.m., Saturday show includes dinner. Atabeya, Kitani, and DJ Shaman Vybez perform live at the Avalon Lounge in Catskill with a live webstream of the entire show from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at wgxc.org/listen, and from 8-9 p.m. will be broadcast on 90.7-FM.

Atabeya: A spicy blend of roots music with a fresh outlook. Pulling influence from many styles of the diaspora of the Americas and West Africa including Haitian Jazz, Cumbia, Afro-Beat, Bachata, Saharan Blues mixed with Funk and psychedelic sounds.

DJ - Shaman Vybez: "[Shaman's] sets are a mix of some of his earlier influences with a few surprises. A vibrational blend of Latin, AfroBeats,House and Funk that will keep you dancing all night. If he’s not in the studio creating, you can bet he’s spinning for the masses this weekend."

Wave Farm's Art Park is now open. Drop-in unannounced for guided tours on Saturdays, or book a tour in advance on other days.

Wave Farm's 29-acre campus in Acra, NY is home to our public Art Park featuring 13 installations, the Study Center including a Research Library, the WGXC 90.7-FM Acra broadcast studio, and accommodations for Wave Farm's international artist Residency Program. Visitors to Wave Farm receive a guided tour of our campus. Admission is free, and tours typically last 60-90 minutes.

The Wave Farm campus is open June 1 – October 31

Friday: Open by appointment from noon to 6 p.m. Book your guided visit here
Saturday: Open for drop-in visits anytime noon to 6 p.m.
Sunday: Open by appointment from noon to 6 p.m. Book your guided visit here
