Group raises concerns over blighted properties

Max Oppen is reporting in The Daily Mail Cultivate Catskill submitted to the Catskill Village Trustees this week a letter highlighting the group's concerns over blighted properties located within the village. The group put forward its ideas on how to rectify the problem with techniques recommended by the judges from America in Bloom, the national beautification program. Cultivate Catskill founder Shelly Pulver told the board the group used the village zoning regulations and created a list of the properties in violation of those regulations, specifically those that present safety and health concerns. Village President Vince Seeley said the board will review the information and create a punch list of problems to be addressed. Seeley said he will also meet with the village attorney to discuss what legal options are available to the village to compel property owners to rectify the violations.
