Mendolia challenges Hallenbeck to debate

Sep 19, 2013 6:49 am
Hudson mayoral candidate Victor Mendolia has challenged his opponent, incumbent Mayor William H. Hallenbeck Jr., to a series of debates in advance of the November election. Mendolia, a Democrat, proposed a series of town hall meetings to be held in each of the city's five wards. In a statement released Wed., Sept. 18, Mendolia said, "Each ward has its own unique problems and concerns, both candidates should hear those concerns and have a chance to present their plans to address them." The challenge included a citywide debate, as well. Contacted by the Register Star Wednesday, Hallenbeck, a Republican, declined to commit to a debate at this time. Mendolia was a guest on WGXC, Wednesday, and discussed the decision to seek elective office and his vision for Hudson's future. The full interview can be accessed online at wgxc.org/archives. Note: Mendolia is the regular host of @Issue, but is currently on hiatus through the November election.
