WGXC Afternoon Show: WGXC Monday Afternoon Show
Apr 30, 2012: 4pm - 6pm
Hosted by Kieran Riley (Monday), Pastor Kim Singletary (1st, 3rd Tuesday), Randall Martin (2nd, 4th Tuesday), Tom DePietro and Selha Graham (Thursday), and a rotating collection of hosts (Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday)
On Monday’s Afternoon Show, co-hosts Sara Kendall, Melinda Breathen and Noah Reibel talk to Hudson rappers Ron Albert and Aggie Sanon, who are headed off to West Palm Beach to back their friend Elliot Green (Young Man P.I.T.) at SunFest 2012. We hear recordings from this Saturday's NY Shout Out! Youth Media Workshop & Festival at the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy, which nine WGXC youth producers participated in.
We’ll speak with Dr. James Butterworth, of the Capital Area Schools Development Association, the center for school improvement at the University at Albany, about the NYS Joint Intervention Team report on Montgomery C. Smith Intermediate School in Hudson. Butterworth headed the review team that assessed the school and co-authored the report, which cited the lack of instructional leadership as one of the reasons the school fails to make academic progress. Charlie Smith will also drop in to perform and talk about the music he’ll bring to Helsinki’s Monday night showcase with his blues band.
