Audrey Briot artist
Audrey Briot is a French artist, textile designer, and practice-based researcher. Her work explores textiles as media for perception, memory, and transmission, and as non-verbal languages capable of carrying narratives, data, and relations.
Rooted in a deep understanding of textile cultures and making, her practice examines the infrastructures—textile, technological, environmental, and orbital—that shape our perception of the world and our relationships with living environments. Combining traditional craft, electronics, open-source technologies, radio, and scientific collaboration, she develops works in which textiles become antennas, sensors, interfaces, or archives. Her ongoing research investigates atmospheric, electromagnetic, and cosmic phenomena, exploring how processes beyond direct human perception can be sensed, experienced, and given material form.
She is a co-founder of DataPaulette, an independent collective and laboratory founded in Paris in 2014 dedicated to exploring relationships between textiles, craft, and digital technologies. This context has been central to the development of her practice, fostering long-term collaborations with scientists, engineers, and specialized craftspeople, and an experimental approach that moves freely between high-tech and low-tech processes.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at Ars Electronica, RADIOTOPIA / STWST48x7 in Linz, UABB Shenzhen/Hong Kong, ISEA, and THE BLANC in New York, and presented through peer-reviewed conferences including CHI, DIS and TEI. She has twice been nominated for the STARTS Prize.
