Village officials talk event-related complaints
Jun 25, 2019 12:30 pm
Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Kinderhook Village Board is looking at the issues presented by events and the crowds they attract. At a recent meeting, Mayor Jim Dunham shared with the board a letter from resident Audrey Peckner who complained the village lacks the needed infrastructure to support the many events taking place. She said that during gatherings driveways are blocked, drivers coming through the village do not stop for pedestrians and visitors walk over lawns. She wrote that many of the events do not bring economic benefits to the village. Board members took issue with that statement, but they did share some of her concerns about crowds and traffic. Dunham said the board needed to “do better planning” for events in the future. The board will continue to look into the issue as the summer season of events in the village continues.
