The Albany Times Union has an in-depth story today about the safety of New York State's natural gas lines, looking at the utilities in several towns on either side of the Hudson River, as well as throughout the Capital area, in light of the September surprise explosion in the San Francisco Bay-area city of San Bruno, as well as past New York explosions in the Schoharie County community of North Blenheim, in 1990, and the Albany suburb of Colnie, recently named the nation's second safest city with a population over 75,000, in 1979.
