Clear sailing for town budgets

Melanie Lekocevic reports in The Daily Mail the recent Coxsackie town budget hearing elicited little comment from the community, and no opposition was expressed. The town's 2013 spending plan will raise the tax levy by slightly more than half a percent. The Town Council is expected to vote on the proposal at a meeting this week. Because the Town Council pared down the budget so much last year, there were few cuts necessary this time around, Lekocevic writes. After a few modifications, the town of New Baltimore's $1.9 million budget was approved Mon., Nov. 12. The changes made came in response to concerns voiced by  members of the public during the period set aside for public comments.
