No rise on Thruway tolls in 2016

Rick Karlin in Capitol Confidential, the Times-Union blog reports that tolls won't be rising in 2016 on the New State Thruway. “No toll increments will be required in 2016,” Thruway director Robert Megna said. “We’re happy to announce that today.” That's mainly because the state sent $1.285 billion to the Thruway to help with the $3.9 billion Tappan Zee bridge project. Megna also announced a seven-member advisory task force for toll hikes, including former Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings. It has been six years since the last toll increase.
