Ulster considering long-term transportation plans

Aug 21, 2015 12:02 am
The Daily Freeman reports that Ulster County is considering its long-term transportation plan through 2040, holding a public hearing Wed., Aug. 20, and a public comment period that will continue through mid-September. “The Long Range Transportation Plan will be multi-modal, embracing a variety of transportation modes in order to effectively serve the region in a manner that encourages environmental sustainability, accessibility, economic development and enhances quality of life,” a release from the Ulster County Transportation Council said. The plan shows population projections for the county in 25 years (more people, slightly older), and reports that current traffic levels are back to their 2005 highs, after cratering around the time of the economic recession in 2008. The public meeting Aug. 20 is in the legislative chambers of the County Office Building, 244 Fair St., Kingston. The council will accept comments on the plan through mid-September, and will adopt a final transportation plan by the end of September. Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
