New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was in Coxsackie at 11 a.m. May 28 at the Greene Correctional Facility meeting with Corrections Officers and juvenile inmates about his proposal to raise the age of being tried as an adult to 18. On May 27, Cuomo penned an editorial in The New York Daily News calling for legislators to raise the age, saying New York and North Carolina are the only states that still prosecute 16- and 17-year-olds as adults. Cuomo also announced hiring more than 100 new correctional officers at the press conference at the prison. Click here to listen to Andrew Cuomo's statement May 28 at the Greene Correctional Facility.
