Sep 18, 2013 7:47 am
William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman the state Department of Environmental Conservation Tues., Sept. 17, released its plan for Hudson River estuary improvements. The plan is intended to guide restoration and protection of the Hudson River estuary and tributaries from the federal dam at Troy to the Tappan Zee Bridge. The plan "identifies four priority habitat types for restoration: intertidal (the area between high and low tide), shallow water, shorelines and tributaries," habitats important to the overall health of the ecosystem. The DEC will hold a public information session on the plan, Tues., Sept. 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Professional Academic Center, the Saland Room, at Columbia-Greene Community College. The full report is available online at the DEC's Web site.
