The Mid-Hudson News Network is reporting Mid-Hudson counties varied widely in health outcomes, according to the annual report released Wed., Mar. 26. by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Dutchess ranked highly, Ulster was in the middle of the pack, and Greene and Sullivan counties were near the bottom. The counties were compared on 29 factors that impact health, including smoking, high school graduation rates, unemployment, physical inactivity, and access to healthy foods. Greene County overall health outcomes were 57th of 62, while its health factors were ranked 51st. Columbia County ranked 46th in overall health outcomes, but was ranked significantly higher, at 13th, in overall health factors.
