On Shannekia McIntosh's "Pure Moods" show at noon to promote her show Saturday night at Helsinki Hudson the former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist announced the opening. Oldham will read from a new audio book, the first in a series from the Drag City record label, and it features local roots. The book is from Hudson resident Rudy Wurlitzer, and is called "Slow Fade." Wurlitzer's partner Lynn Davis, a famous photographer in her own right, will provide visual accompaniment for the evening. Basilica will then host a regional culinary festival centered on ramps, a local root similar to a leek or scallion that is currently the current sensation of the food fashion set. An archived recording of the interview is up on the WGXC website right now or here.
