This month Overlooked host Rob Saffer is honored and humbled to welcome his dear friend, music/cultural writer Ben Ratliff, to WGXC’s studios to listen to music from here to Burkina Faso and from the 17th century to last year, sometimes following the kind of through-lines of listening explored in Ben’s insightful and useful book Every Song Ever. We’ll listen to songs performed alone; songs about repetition; songs expressing in-between moods. Of course, it won’t be all seriousness - there will be plenty of lowbrow humor, too. Some of the music featured includes Can, Sun Ra, Judith Berkson, Fats Waller, The Fall, Arthur Russell, Quarteto Em Cy and many more.
