Grant will offset school trip costs to Cole, Olana historic sites

Jan 15, 2016 6:30 am

The Daily Freeman is reporting the Thomas Cole National Historic Site and the Olana Partnership have been awarded a grant form the National Park Foundation. The $9,000 awarded will be used to pay transportation costs for fourth-graders to visit the two historic sites. The award supports the White House youth initiative “Every Kid in a Park,” intended to remove barriers to access to all federal sites, including national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and public lands and waters. Fourth-grade teachers in the local public schools interested in taking advantage of the program are being encouraged to contact the Cole house and Olana directly at 828-1872, ext. 105, for more information.
