Gibson said, “It is imperative that as we protect our national security, we do not give up the rights that define us as Americans.” Gibson, a retired U.S. Army colonel, was one of 20 representatives to sign a June 6 letter to the FBI and NSA seeking more information about the report that phone records of Verizon customers be turned over to the NSA. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand spoke about the domestic surveillance issue to the press, Mon., June 10. She indicated she will thoroughly review the NSA’s actions.
