Time Tone Passages, by Norwegian artist Maia Urstad, was commissioned as both a 40 channel site specific sound installation in Bonn, Germany, and as radio broadcast for Deutschland Radio. To make the piece, Urstad immersed in the archives of the “Deutsche Welle” radio programs that have been broadcast in over 40 languages since 1953 into the present Time Tone Passages is a composition made out of this archival material, namely the sound of many languages, voices and broadcast-specific sounds. - Described by Wave Farm Radio Artist Fellow 2019/2020, Karen Werner.
