Produced by many contributors.

An expanded weathercast by participants of the Insurgent Meteorologies workshop at The Architecture Fringe's Summer Assembly, held this week in Arbroath, Scotland.

Workshop by Sophie Dyer with Alison Scott. Contributions from Shoji Funakawa, Salomé Massart, Melissa Ernstberger, India Walton, Eva Corrigan, and Ali Hutchinson.

This communal weather cast was produced by participants of the Insurgent Meteorologies workshop at ‘Earth Station,’ The Architecture Fringe’s Summer Assembly 2026. The workshop was led by Soph Dyer with Alison Scott, and took place at Hospitalfield in Arbroath, Scotland over one week in July. Contributions come from workshop participants Shoji Funakawa, Salomé Massart, Melissa Ernstberger, India Walton, Eva Corrigan and Ali Hutchinson, with recordings featuring the voices and working atmosphere of the wider summer assembly.

The weather cast is a record of a week of experimental learning and fledgling collaborations into more-than-meteorological weather.

We began our journey in the ocean of static: learning about radio by building our own v-dipole antennas to feel out the radio spectrum, before receiving signals from weather satellites circling overhead.

We visited the archives of Dundee Satellite Receiving Station, and were joined by special guests Dundee Radio Club for a field recording workshop on the shoreline.

We were for a time, a collective ear as our ground station – Earth Station Arbroath – emerged.

We were in radio waves, in sound waves, in sea waves.

We would like to thank the teams at The Architecture Fringe and Hospitalfield, Sharon Kelly at Dundee University Archives, Paul Crawford from Dundee Satellite Station, and Becca Clark and Su Shaw from Dundee Radio Club.
