John Mason in The Register Star reports that Taghkanic Supervisor Elizabeth Young was involved in a car accident Saturday that took out a power line along Route 9H. Valatie Rescue Squad, the Greenport Fire Department, and the New York State Police responded to the accident, which occurred at 11:26 a.m. Route 9H was closed while emergency personnel worked on the accident. The site was turned over to National Grid an hour later, who set about replacing a pole. Power was out to the surrounding area for several hours while the pole was replaced. State Police are investigating. An update to the story says Young's car was totaled, and that she was examined at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson and his fine.
