Prattsville gets 'clean bill of health' on audit
Oct 18, 2012 7:37 am
Michael Ryan reports in the Windham Journal the loss of records in the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene in Aug. 2011, made a recent audit of the town of Prattsville particularly challenging. Independent, outside auditors were able to access the books for only one-quarter of the fiscal year 2011 for their report. However, the auditors found the financial administrators in Prattsville complied with the requirements with regard to federal funds. Municipalities that receive more than a half million in federal funds in one year must undergo a financial review. Prattsville received nearly $1.5 million in disaster grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in 2011. “We got a clean bill of health,” said Town Supervisor Kory O'Hara. A follow-up audit is expected for fiscal year 2012. Read the full story in the Windham Journal.
