The Cairo Public Library and WGXC are holding a co-benefit Talent Show Friday, March 26 at Cairo Elementary School, on Main St. in Cairo from 6:15 p.m. All types of performers are welcome -- musicians, jugglers, dancers, mimes, rope tricks, poetry readers, whatever talent you have. $1 registration fee for performers, $2 for bands/groups. You must register in advance and attend mandatory rehearsal Friday, March 19. Talent Show will be MC'd by Mr. Bill Lawrence, Greene County Legislator for Cairo, and former science teacher at Cairo High. Mark Patton will also perform music at the beginning of the show. The Pipe Band of Greene County will perform halfway through the show, led by Pipe Major John Gallagher. $5 admission to attend. The Cairo Library will also have a raffle, and WGXC will sign-up new Founding Members of the community radio station, and sell t-shirts and bumper stickers. Call 622-9864 for more information.

The Cairo Library is attempting to move out of Cairo Town Hall and into a larger, more modern facility behind its current space. A public presentation of the new library project will be held at the Cairo Town Hall and open to the public on March 17, 2010 at 6 p.m. before the regular Cairo Town Board Meeting.

WGXC is a community radio station that will go on the air at 90.7-FM later this year in Greene and Columbia counties. It is a community-run media project, re-envisioning radio as an innovative platform for local participation. Our inclusive programming connects diverse voices, and distributes information across the public spectrum in New York's Greene and Columbia counties. There will be studios in Cairo, Catskill, and Hudson.
