Michael Woody

Michael Woody lives and works in the Champaign Urbana Illinois. He has an MFA in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design and an MFA in New Media Studies from the University of Illinois. Michael's work deals with cultural and institutional knowledge and representation. He takes from specific case files and archives, manipulating official narratives in order to disrupt presumptive appeals to truth-- He reconstructs the cases to suggest the potential of immediacy and interpretation instead. Michael Woody is currently working from an obscure murder case from the deep south, a family album of extreme bikers, and a 50-year history of broadcasts that reference the influenza virus.
