Cairo works to lift DEC moratorium

Kyle Adams reports in The Daily Mail Cairo officials are hopeful the Department of Environmental Conservation will lift the ban on new sewer connections in the town early next year. That moratorium prevents the construction of new connections until the system is brought up to DEC standards. The prohibition has effectively stopped any new development in Cairo for more than five years. The entire sewer and septic system has now been completely overhauled. Town Supervisor Ted Banta said Wed., Dec. 12, the town is now exceeding the DEC's expectations. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
