Prattsville supervisor: Town budget to increase

Michael Ryan writes in the Windham Journal Prattsville Town Supervisor Kory O'Hara, at a meeting last week, provided the public a preliminary overview of expected town spending for next year, predicting it will rise. The numbers are still rough, but O'Hara said the budget is up more than 2.5 percent at this point. In addition to the possibility of pay hikes for town employees, there is also the increased cost of health benefits and retirement contributions to consider. He said, "We don't know where it's going to come from, but...we have two choices. Raise taxes or make cuts." A public hearing on the fiscal package is scheduled for Nov. 11.
