Tops opens three markets in Greene County

Jim Planck reports in The Daily Mail three Grand Union supermarkets in Greenville, West Coxsackie and Tannersville reopened as Tops Friendly Markets, Tues., May 28. The Tops company is based in western New York and operates 159 supermarkets in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. Tops acquired the three Greene County stores last summer. At the former Bryant's supermarket in Greenville, the building underwent infrastructure upgrades and repairs, including numerous interior renovations. The new owners also created 20 part-time jobs and promoted four part-time employees to full-time status, according to store manager Edward Gendron. A number of public officials were on hand Tuesday, for the ribbon-cutting, including U.S. Representative Chris Gibson, state Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk, Assemblyman Pete Lopez, Greene County Legislator Chairman Wayne Speenburgh and Greene County Legislator Kevin Lewis.
