Young drivers face harsher penalties for texting

Brittany Horn in the Albany Times-Union reports that a state law went into effect Nov. 1, with new and inexperienced drivers facing penalties such as a license suspension of 120 days for the first offense of texting while driving and a year-long loss of license for a second offense that takes place within six months of a driver getting his or her license back, according to a news release from Gov.
