Michael Ryan is reporting in the Windham Journal the November race for Jewett town supervisor will see the return of personalities well known to local voters. Incumbent supervisor Carol Muth and former supervisor Michael Flaherty are at the top of the Republican and Democratic tickets. Muth, a Republican, held the post for six years in the late 1970's and early 1980's. She served as a councilwoman for 12 years before being re-elected in 2009 as supervisor. Flaherty, chairman of the Democratic committee, served as town supervisor for 11 years, but unexpectedly failed to gain the caucus endorsement prior to the 2009 election. J.R. Quackenbush has also returned to town politics. He resigned from the town council at mid-term in 2010, but is now one of five candidates seeking two available town board seats. A onetime Democrat, Quackenbush is running on the Independence Party line in November. Read the full story in the Windham Journal.
