Feb 13, 2014 7:20 am
Joe Gentile is reporting in the Register Star an eleventh-hour proposal by the principal owner of Meadowgreens Golf Course, Wed., Feb. 13, delayed a vote on the resolution by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors to implement a 1,000-foot safety zone at the Columbia County Airport. Carmen Nero bypassed the full board and presented the Airport Committee with a list of options, including the purchase of the entire property located directly adjacent to the airport in Ghent. Nero previously rejected the county's offer to buy 16 acres of the Meadowgreens property, and the 90 acres of conservation easements needed for the airport’s safety zone. Committee Chairman Art Bassin said, “We’re not going to do anything with those properties until we get specific numbers for those options." Read the full story in the Register Star.
