Almost 10 percent of Hudson is self-employed

The Albany Business Review reports that Hudson has the highest self-employment rate in the state and ranks 83rd nationally, with 9.96 percent of the town working population self-employed, according to a study funded by a company owned by the magazine's parent company. In comparison, in Albany 5.5 percent of workers are self-employed, and Glens Falls has 8.75 percent to rank third in New York. Nationally the average is 6.5 percent. Hudson has a higher rate then San Francisco. The California city had the highest rate in the nation for cities with over 500,000 workers. The figures are as of 2010.
