Athens board gets an earful about noise

Melanie Lekocevic reports in The Daily Mail a dispute over loud music at Dionysos Restaurant on River St. in Athens has made its way to the Village Board. At a recent meeting, the restaurant's River St. neighbors complained about the outdoor performances held late into the night Fridays and Saturdays, and on Sunday afternoon, and called for the adoption of a village noise ordinance. “I understand they are a business and they need to make money, but this is impacting the neighbors,” said Sheila Brady, owner of Brady's Docks. Mayor Andrea Smallwood said the village is currently looking at updating the village zoning code and a noise ordinance could be in the future. Restaurant representatives Frankie Taccetta and Rick Surrano agreed to make certain adjustments to the restaurant's performance schedule in response to the complaints.
