Katie Kocijanski is reporting in the Register-Star a final review of the proposed contract between the Columbia Economic Development Corporation and Columbia County is officially underway. The county Board of Supervisors Finance Committee tabled approval of the contract pending further changes and public comment earlier this month. At that time supervisors requested clarification that the corporation was working on its own strategic plan, not a plan for towns and villages countywide. The committee members also requested the final version of the agreement include language to indicate the corporation would not interfere with town or village zoning laws. The board's Economic Development Committee Mon., Oct. 26, unanimously approved those requested amendments. The interim contract will be posted online at both the county's and the corporation’s websites sometime Tue., Oct. 27. The public can comment on the agreement through Nov. 15.
