Sep 02, 2015 12:02 am
David Kravets in Ars Technica reports that the U.S. Army on Aug. 30 was still looking for a 100-pound dummy missile that fell from an Apache helicopter somewhere over New York State Aug. 28. The missile was lost somewhere between Fort Drum in northern New York and the Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, where the missile was attending an air show. The M36 Captive Flight Training Missile is non-explosive and non-motorized, and the 64-inch-long black missile was last seen on a 10th Combat Aviation Brigade Apache helicopter. It was painted with the words "U.S. Army." Anyone with information about the missile's wherabouts should call Fort Drum's 10th Mountain Division Operations Center at 315-772-6324.
