Philmont Village Board adopts budget

Daniel Johnson reported in the Register Star the Philmont Village Board Mon., Apr. 1, adopted its 2013-14 budget at the annual budget hearing. Under the new budget, the tax rate will increase 5.2 percent, but because of a change in property assessments villagers will probably not see a tax increase. Philmont clerk and treasurer Eilene Morris said, "Most of the people might find their taxes going down." While water rates will remain the same, residents will pay higher sewer rates for the first time in six years. Mayor Clarence "Skip" Speed said the increased rates were necessary.
