The morning plant sale (8:30 a.m. to noon) will include annuals, perennials, and herbs as well as succulents and hanging baskets. All proceeds benefit the Temple Israel Cemetery Fund. A buffet luncheon and lecture on the violet industry in the Hudson Valley will follow with featured speaker Historian Steven Mann. Between 1890 and 1920, the Hudson Valley was home to more than 400 greenhouses filled with violets. A minimum of 5,000 stems were picked each day, bundled, and shipped to Boston, Philadelphia, and even Chicago. The proceeds from the event benefit Temple Israel.
