Wave Farm Artist-in-Residence Ralph Lewis hosts "Radio Monster Party!" a workshop for kids at Wave Farm. The workshop will culminate in a live 30 minute broadcast during Radio Camp, a weekly youth radio program focused on the act of radio making and experimenting with sound. This workshop and broadcast is presented in conjunction with Ralph Lewis's Wave Farm Artist Residency project, "Penelope’s Endless Book of Magic." Writes Lewis, "Penelope’s Endless Book of Magic, an upcoming radio opera serial, is excited to offer an inclusive opportunity for local kids to help us make the opera even more fun by CREATING YOUR OWN MONSTER SOUNDS FOR THE RADIO OPERA!

We’ll begin off-air, drawing and imagining our monsters, asking question like “What is their personality is like?” and “What do they sound like? Do they eat anything weird?”

Then, as part of Radio Camp’s on-air show, Radio Camp host Echo Roe and I will talk to our intrepid community members about each monster, then coach the group in further shaping their monster sounds.

Our goal, besides having an awesome, creative time, is to record the monsters' sounds so we can include these special monsters as part of an episode of Penelope’s Endless Book of Magic that will air in the following week! Just think–your own special little monster on-air!
