Nuestra Música: Paises VI - Chile - Uruguay (Audio)

Today we are presenting the VI show titled Paises (countries) where we broadcast two countries in segments of 30 minutes each. Today’s countries are Uruguay and Chile. We start with Chile the land of Cuecas, Nueva Cancion Chilena, romantic balads, and native folk music among others with Quena, Zampoña, Ocarina, Charango Bombo Nortiño among their native instruments.

 Tango and candombe; both genres have been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and both are the most distinctive music of Uruguay along with Cancion Popular, Afro Uruguayan Jazz, Milonga and Murga.

“Nuestra Música,” “Our Music,” presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, Nuestra Música presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guaraní, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalán. Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with and S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, Mambo and many more.
