The music of Jason Kao Hwang, a celebrated violinist, composer, and bandleader across genres from jazz to noise. We’ll hear excerpts from a 2025 concert at the Roulette concert hall in Brooklyn with his quintet, Resonance (Andrew Drury drums; Ken Filiano, string bass; Bryan Carrott, vibraphone; Chris Forbes, piano) mixing improvisation with written scores. Hwang has contributed to projects with artists from Pauline Oliveros to Henry Threadgill and has released over a dozen acclaimed albums.
