Architecture firm Food New York is launching Food Radio, a radio program dedicated to design, environments and communities. The inaugural season, titled OFFICE HOURS, is a three-week program beginning October 26th, streaming live from a storefront in Chinatown, NY produced in partnership with Wave Farm.

Each day, a selection of artists, designers, chefs, musicians and architects will be invited as guest hosts to introduce kids in and around Chinatown to creative people that have found their own ways of making a living by doing the things that they love.

Guests come from a diverse set of backgrounds and disciplines, including Angela Dimayuga, badass chef and James Beard Rising Star, A-Trak, world-renowned DJ, Kevin Ma, founder of cultural behemoth Hypebeast, Heron Preston, multi-faceted clothing designer, Jing Liu, award-winning architect, and the New York Public Library, among 30 others.

Artists will be present for live-streamed interviews as well as performances, open-offices and workshops. For example, on the opening night, October 26th, Angela Dimayuga will offer a selection of her favorite local dishes for the public to come try.

In New York City, one in four Asian Americans live below the poverty line, the largest of any minority group. Unsurprisingly, many kids that grow up in this environment self-limit what they see themselves being able to do. Therefore, not unlike office hours in school, kids (from middle to high school) will be invited to visit the space, talk to the artists - especially those that may look like them - and see how they figured out how to carve out their own paths in life.

Radio is a simple medium that can be intimate yet far-reaching. Office Hours is streaming live-only from Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm between October 26th and November 16th. Each guest host will participate in a live in-person interview, and some will also run their office, hold meetings, stage workshops, perform and simply hang out in the space. Microphones will be installed throughout the storefront, picking up everything from scheduled programming to blank space. Anyone is welcome to stop by and participate.
