There is lead in water in 17 Ulster County buildings

May 11, 2016 12:03 am
Patricia Doxsey reports in The Daily Freeman that 17 buildings owned or leased by Ulster County tested positive for elevated levels of lead in the water. Ulster County Health Commissioner Dr. Carol Smith on May 9 issued an advisory warning all county employees not to use the tap water in many Ulster County buildings. “A memo is going out that directs individuals to drink water only from the filtration fountains or the water stations that we have and to not use the tap water to make soup or coffee or tea or anything else,” Smith said. County Executive Michael Hein said they tested the water because of the ongoing water story in Flint, Michigan. “We proactively tested, we got the results and we immediately acted.” Read the full story in The Daily Freeman.
